- Prime BEEF (Base Engineer Emergency Force): Created in October 1964. Rapid-response engineering teams tasked with emergency base repair, rapid runway repair (RRR), fire protection, structural crash response, and keeping forward bases operational under direct attack.
- RED HORSE (Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operations Repair Squadron Engineers): Authorized in 1965. The Air Force’s dedicated heavy-civil construction force. Fully self-sufficient, highly mobile units equipped with heavy earthmovers, asphalt/concrete plants, and rock crushers, capable of building massive base infrastructure from scratch in hostile zones.

They pioneered Rapid Runway Repair, dropping into crater sites and restoring operational takeoff capability in 90 minutes or less while combat sorties waited on the taxiway.

You may be interviewing someone who has already been doing it—
just in places where failure had consequences considerably greater than missing substantial completion.
